Description

FLAT TOP is a site specific art installation by the “Art Team” normally consisting of Barron Hall and Robmat Butler, this time with visiting artist Jason Brown. Using architectural elements influenced by rooftops and buildings in the Happy Holler neighborhood of Knoxville, we created a series of sculptural platforms to give viewers a sense of elevation as if they are walking on rooftops. We used salvaged materials including pallets and surplus construction materials (shingles, siding, etc.) to build the sculptural forms. In addition, we utilized theatrical lighting and wall murals that mimic the urban skyline for a sense of perspective.
