ASCRETE

Description

As with most of the installations by the “Art Team” Robmat Butler and Barron Hall Ascrete (Asphalt and Concrete as one word) seeks to limit the access of the participants to where the artists want them to go. The Art Team grew up in central Florida which is a land or parking lots whether for a strip mall or for the Grand Mouse. These parking lots become a site unto themselves in this area, but do you actually see them, or is just a transition point? This exhibit places a observation deck above a typical Florida parking lot. Using forced perspective we can imagine we are high above this lot where countless commuters are coming in and out all day long. Using down lighting and night time views creates an eerie scene of the parking lot “after hours”.
